Like the person Jesus described, who was planning to build a tower, we should start by figuring out what it’s going to take to be true disciples of Christ. What might we need to give up? And what cultural norms might we have to challenge in order to stay on the straight path? With that in mind, here’s your REAL Conversation for the week:
As Christians, what should we be doing that makes us uncomfortable?
Answer this question with your family. Use it as a conversation starter to think about what it will take to be a true disciple. And as you’re thinking about those difficult things that you should do but have been avoiding, remember what Jesus said: “Abba, Father, all things are possible for you. Remove this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.” ~Mark 14:36
Even Jesus had tough decisions to make. And when he did, he turned to the Father for wisdom and guidance, and chose to do what the Father willed. You and I can do the same!
