It’s easy to criticize others. But, in my experience, it’s even easier to criticize ourselves. We are generally our own worst critics – second guessing every word we’ve said and everything we’ve done. We look back at events of the day and beat ourselves up over them. It never occurs to us that 20/20 hindsight – the ability to see everything clearer after the fact – doesn’t mean that we should’ve seen things differently in the moment.

Instead of criticizing ourselves, why not flip the script? Why not compliment ourselves instead? Not for any bad things that we should’ve done differently, but for those things where we tried to do the right thing. If we look, I think we’ll find more of those good attempts than we realize.

None of us is perfect. We don’t start out that way and we won’t end that way. But we are all VALUABLE! The Lord created us and said we were “good.” Let’s stop arguing with Him and trying to prove Him wrong. We don’t have to be anywhere near perfect – we just have to stop beating ourselves up and realize that we have worth and we are truly worthy!
